D-Waste has recently become technical consutant of the “Green Key” in Greece, an eco-label for tourism which is provided by the Hellenic Society for the Protection of Nature (HSPN) (www.eepf.gr).

greenkey logoGreen Key is an international eco-label for tourism facilities that promotes sustainable tourism. It aims to contribute to the prevention of climate change by awarding and advocating facilities with positive environmental initiatives. It is a non-governmental, non-profit, independent programme which is recognised and supported by the World Tourism Organization and UNEP. Green Key has awarded more than 2,200 hotels and other sites in 45 countries worldwide with their eco-label.

The criteria of the program cover areas related to energy consumption, water consumption, waste management, use of environmentally friendly personal cleaning products and detergents, quality of food and beverages, conversion of open spaces to "green" areas and Environmental Education.

In Greece the eco-label for tourism “Green Key” is provided by the Hellenic Society for the Protection of Nature (HSPN) (www.eepf.gr) which has developed a network of over 150 hotels in Greece.

In cooperation with the HSPN, D-Waste provides technical consulting services on waste management issues to all hotels participating in the Green Key program in Greece. In addition, it informs hotel managers on best waste management and recycling practices through dedicated seminars organized by HSPN in Greece and abroad.
